well, i noticed past couple days that one of my voltage rails was unstable, namely the +5vsb that my swiftech kit uses to power up with the system. with the knowledge that via chipsets have voltage fluctuations i passively investigated but found no issues. well, last nite i booted my machine to a bubbling sound and an overheat siren. opening my case yielded a puddle of coolant on my burner (its fine btw) and a busted swiftech mcp300 pump, less than a year old id say. upon contacting swiftech for rma they approved, but told me they no longer carry mcp300 (surprised?) but they would replace it with a mcp600 for $40. i dont know if i am gettting a deal on this for not, they have the MSRP at $79.95 on site, but we all know how easy it is to find cheaper prices. am i being treated fairly or should i start spamming their email until they hate me? :p
is it my problem that they no longer carry a product that they have an agreement with the customer to support? i guess so :(

EDIT: all other components are fine, system is up now on air, not near the same O/C though :(

if the old one was under warranty, they should replace it with new or refurbished for FREE.... dont pay them a dime, make some noise and they will listen

I haven't seen any cheaper than that. I doubt they are trying to screw you, they have a good reputation with customer service. If you wanted, they might offer you a refund, but you'd still have to buy a new pump somewhere. I'd take them up on the offer myself, but first I'd insist on one with the new impellor, not the temp solution they were offering. If you have to wait a week or so, it should be worth it.

peace.

I think they are honoring the purchase contract. Since they dont make the 300 anymore they are offering a discount on a higher priced pump. I would take that offer.

Sounds like a good offer :).

Swiftech is usally quite good about this stuff - I'll bet they will be willing to hook you up with the new revision 600 pump for $40 as well, and will be fine with a little wait.

I wonder if it was the fluctuating voltage that leaked your 300, or just a product fault?

I'm not sure if I say this just because I'm English and customer service is different here, but I agree with mata2974. If I were you, ogboot, I'd kick up a fuss (ask to speak to a manager maybe) and see if they'd give you a new pump for free. It isn't your problem that they don't carry it. Worst that happens is they say no and you hold them to their original offer.
