Ok so im really looking into getting a mechanical keyboard and ive done my research. im just curious about what you guys think about yours.(the ones who have them ofc)

I was looking at either cherry black or red. i game a lot and apparently they are good for gaming. but one of my buddies said go for blue because tactile is what you want in a mechanical keyboard. but that confused me cause i read somewhere that Blue has the release point is above the actuation point. and its not the best with quick double taps.. but i tried to spam a key and i notice that my finger comes fully off the key when i press lol.

what kind of switches do you guys have and how do you like them? and how are they compared to other types if youve had any?

i appreciate the links and what not, but im more of asking personal opinion about what you guys think of the keyboards you have. Ive read a lot of articles on them. about them and how they work.

But the first link you posted was awesome i didnt see that thread sorry xD

^ No worries.

Imo the greatest feature that mech keyboards offer is responsiveness and durability.

I've got a Filco Majestouch with blueacks (EDIT: I swear it said "blue" when I bought it, but the stems are definitely black...). No clicks or bumps, just the noise when the key bottoms out and plastic hits plastic. I'm thinking about buying some pads to go around the stems so that I can use it at school without annoying my roommate. I have become spoiled, and now detest typing on any keyboard that is not mechanical. Sturdy keys and real springs make for very comfortable and error-reduced typing.

Double-tap works fine for me. Keypresses register with very little pressure.

omg thats what im looking for xD. i think im going to go with cherry MX blue. but im going to check out a blackwidow this week to try the Blue!

We recently had a fairly lengthy discussion, and it might answer a few questions that you didn't think of: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=693360

The only downside to a mechanical keyboard is that everything else is garbage after using one. I sometimes get pains in my hands from typing all day and I've not had it at all since I switched my work and home keyboards. It requires less pressure to activate, I don't have to push them as hard and I don't have to bottom out (like on a domed keyboard) to get the keypress. This creates less stress on my hands and, consequently, less pain. It cost me a pretty penny ($135 for my Das Keyboard with MX Browns, $75/e for two Das Keyboard with MX Blues).

I was worried about the noise of the blues, so I got brown instead. While the typing is still really nice, the noise difference is minimal (especially with rubber spacers!), but I like the "clickiness" of the blues.

Yeah i want the clickyness. itll make me feel cooler... when no one is around to hear the awesomeness ;o;

edit: also pwnmachine posted that link already thideras. and i did read through it all. some usefull stuff in there! thanks again

Wow. Spacers make a real difference.

Blues were much quiter than the browns in their demo video with black being the loudest of all. Bizarre since everyone says it is exactly the opposite lol

Are there any boards that come with the spacers in them already? (Seems like a no brainer to me).

WASD makes custom keyboard and I believe you can order them with spacers installed. I'm tempted to make my own keyboard, I just don't know what I want. I really don't care for the browns that my desktop system has.

What are rate instructions? my keyboard gives me the options for liek "Repeat rate maintain" and "repeat rate increase by 2x" and "3x, 4x" but only with a PS/2?

what does that all mean? @___@

That is how quickly it will repeat a key if you hold it down.
