I'm not sure how many people here were into the MW games, I always thought they were fun back in the day. Someone is developing a MOD for Crysis based on MW, the name is in the title. Furthermore the development of the game will be supported by Crytek which is a +.

MechWarrior: Living Legends. Will you be a living legend or a forgotten casualty?

By the 31st century, humanity has spread to thousands of worlds, while a handful of powerful empires wage continual war for the right to rule the stars. Foremost among the weapons used in that struggle are BattleMechs. Loaded with auto cannons, missile launchers, lasers, and charged-particle beam weapons, these fusion-powered war machines of articulated armor stand upward of fourteen meters tall. Piloting them are MechWarrior’s, the best, most intensively trained men and women available. Like the armored knights of an earlier age, MechWarrior’s are popular heroes, and their exploits are the stuff of legends.

MechWarrior: Living Legends (MWLL) is a total conversion modification for Crysis. MWLL is at its very core a mix between a First Person Shooter (FPS) and a Simulation (SIM). This will be achieved through the use of a, mixed arms massively multiplayer, gaming experience where the player takes part in a battle using a variety of vehicles and weapons. MWLL is following the concept set forth by Crysis of a sandbox feel where you get to play what you want and how you want it.

MWLL depicts the epic struggles between the two umbrella factions of Battletech, “The Clans” and “The Inner Sphere”. Maps typically have a mix of vehicles and infantry combat, using both of these to complete objectives as a team will be essential to winning rounds or campaigns in MWLL. In the project we will be bringing some of the legends of “MechWarrior” franchise back to life with new art and animations that do justice to these huge weapons of war and also do something that’s never been done before using the deep universe of Battletech. There are so many facets to Battletech and finally comes a title that is willing to explore them.

I don't give a rat's you-know-what about Crysis, but I just may have to buy it, if this conversion plays half as good as MW3. Still trying to figure out how to get that one working on a modern computer.

Their website sure looks promising, hope they can pull it off!!

Nice find.

OMFG.

I AM A MECH ADDICT.

I also might have to look into chrysis just for the mod.

I never bought MW3, but MW4:Mercs was excellent, If it compares to that i'll get crysis.

I'll probably pick up Crysis anyways, but this is just a bonus!

I loved MW4 and thought their equivalents on the Xbox were awesome. Too bad its been a while since a good one for the computer came out.

Here's hoping its done well!

I was un-freaking-stoppable in an Atlas.

It's a 100 ton monster with the strongest arrays and the best armor in ANY of the games where it's available.

Why wouldn't you be?

:D

Was the Atlas another name for the 'Battlemaster' ?

I too would be interested in playing this mod. But I thought M$ bought the rights to the IP for the MechWarrior universe. No?

hopefully the damage is very realistic for this game, i wanna see parts flying off... be able o shoot arms and legs off etc. :D i miss mechwarrior.

MW FTW \o/ Even more reasons to get Crysis... like there wasn't enough already.

The Old mechwarrior leans back against the wall and runs a sore hand through his greying hair....

"Man", he thinks...."so many lost hours fighting"..."so many mechs smashed to my bunched pulse lasers in close combat...". So many LRM kills .....

God I miss the team play of NetMech....lol.....I almost got divorced because of the original DOS NetMech....sigh....time to fire up the ol trusty Timberwolf and get back to spanking some noob a$$ :)

i was sucked into the whole mech thing, the xbox games, MechCommander and MW. i loved the whole series. i'm just upset MS killed it.

this is VERY good news.

The reasons that make an atlas powerful can also be it's downfall.

I remember when I first started playing MW2 I would select a Firemoth for quick action and pair up against a full wave of direwolfs. I would perform hit and runs until the dire wolf blew up.

MW4 i tried the light mechs but they seemed to blow up too fast.
The THANATOS is my favorite, the 360 torso twist is the best option, and it's fairly fast; nothing like running full speed ahead, while facing backwards.

I hope this mod has explosive packs for the infantry. Slap one on the cockpit and take out a mech! (just like in the books).

Battlemaster is not an Atlas. Atlas is a 100 ton mech, Battlemaster 85 tons. I kinda prefer the Battlemaster, it still has decent armor, moves faster (most variants, anyway - they may all be 4/6 in fact, while the Atlas AFAIK is all 3/5,) and can still kick some butt at close-mid range - PPC, 4 front and 2 rear mounted ML's, SRM-6, 2 MG's.. Searchlight..

For the record, Mechassault 1/2 on XBOX were sorry pieces of garbage, never played MW4 on PC, but I read up on it before making the decision not to buy - they oversimplified things just a little TOO much.. Didn't like MW2 either. MW3 was hella fun though, and of course the original rocked.

Wonder how Mechcommander is? Never tried those.

/end ramble

MechCommander 2 was pretty good. I Never really played MechCommander 1. I think Microsoft released the source code for 2 but I haven't been following up on it in awhile. I might reinstall it because I used to play it all the time. MW4 was pretty good but as you can see from my avatar MW2 is my favorite.

For MW4 to rock you had to have the expansions, they fixed some of the oversimplification and IMO it was more fun to play.
After running through black knight and mercenaries, I was unable to paly the original. To me the expansions were integral in the gameplay.
