I found the old website I created over 10 years ago when I still played Battletech.http://www.angelfire.com/games/sepultura/ The TABLE TOP version. The REAL game. It shows a bunch of the minatures I designed and created. I had over 300 minitures at one point and carried them in padded rifle cases.
We had a weekly game and Gary's hobby and collectibles that would go for 6 hours minimum every Saturday night.

I remeber the first mechwarrior game and that it came on 7 of the original 5 1/2" floppy disks. Most of the games released have been great fun.

The best though was playing in the simulators at Wizards of the coast in Seattle. The Battletech war centers absolutey KICKED ***. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BattleTech_Centers

I'll be looking forward to this mod. Only reason to buy the game for me.

This is mod that could benefit from multi-monitor support.

I like how your picture looks like its something out of Aliens or T2.

The Mechwarrior: Living Legends team which has received the Crysis pre-SDK is kicking off the month November with an interesting "Betty contest". In the case you haven't played any of the Mechwarrior games before, Betty is the sexy and sometimes sultry sounding voice of the Battlemech computers in the Mechwarrior series.

The contest is about finding a suitable voice from your wive, girlfriend, daugther, friend, etc. The winner(s) will be showcased in the November Newsletter for MW:LL and possibly included into the first release of the mod! (not guaranteed)

What you need to do:
  • Obtain Girlfriend/Wife/Daughter/Female Friend
  • Record a line from Mechwarrior Betty's (Bottom of this post are some example lines)
  • Host the file somewhere
  • Post link in their forums
All you need to do is recording your plain voice since the mechanical effect that makes it sound like Betty will be added by the team.

Recording Format: 44khz, 16bit, Mono

File formats we will accept: .ogg, .wav, .mp3

Here's an example file my girlfriend did:
http://landrosradick.shackspace.com/Mech/AP-AYT.wav

Some tips for recording:
Have a noise canceling microphone (most microphones, including desktop ones provide this these days)
Hold the microphone about 4-6 inches AWAY from the mouth and nostril area, preferably to the side as to not pick up any breathing.
Tell her to try it multiple times (and it's ok to host the file with multiple takes on it) until she feels comfortable doing it.

Example Text:
"Ammunition Level Critical"
"Shutting down"
"Light Amplification Engaged"
"Autopilot Engaged"
"Autopilot Disabled"
"Image Enhancement Engaged"
"Shutdown Sequence initiated"
"Heat Level, Critical"
"Shutdown overridden"
"Enemy Mech Destroyed"
"All Points, attacking your target"
"Heat Level, Critical"
"Satellite link, established"
"Chain fire, engaged"
"Group Fire, engaged"
"All points, report target destroyed"
"Enemy Power up detected"
"Self destruct sequence initiated"

cool contest for the gf's :)

:eek::eek:
I guess none of the guys programming this have girlfriends!
:eek::eek::eek:

I just got done playing the Crysis demo and it was phenominal (even though all my graphics setting are on low). The gameplay is superb. I love how it tells you the key when you are close enough to use someting.
I'm also now seeing how they will be able to incorperate all the features of the MW:LL into crysis.

While I have been a mech fanatic, I am tempted to become infantry. I think I'll enjoy carrying demo packs and grapples, nothing like blowing a hole in a mech's viewscreen. So, it looks like I'll be playing Clan Smoke Jaguar.

Does it seem that the heavy mechs will be more vulnerable to infantry attacks?

On the flipside to this, I was going to remark that any Mech that is armed with Mech sized Machine Guns should CHEW through Infantry like it's going out of fashion. If anyone has ever looked over the Diamond Shark 'Pirahna' Light Mech, you'll see what I mean.

Oh yes, we know

. I think that's why the Flea may be the most sought after mech when people realize that bigger isn't necessarily better.

Also having infantry will make having machine guns acceptable. They were always junk on the MW games because of the short range and limited damage, now they might actually see some use.

They had one of those at Circle Center Mall in Indianapolis. I got to play in the pods several times. However, they are no longer in business there. Do any of these 'war centers' still exist? If so, where?

Hey! I played there too! They also had one set up at a Dave&Busters near Cincinnatti, oh. However, that was 7 years ago too.
I thought it was a lot of fun getting in, but the problem when I played was that no on e else knew how to play; too many controls.
They all ended up in a clump in the middle of the map blowing each other up.
TBH because of the lack of competition it wasn't too much fun, I just stood there and fired slavos into the mass of mechs.

I played there too. Ah memories. One of my friends went to the Mall of America a few years ago (like 2 or 3) and said that they still had some there. Personally I'd like to find out who made these. Someday after I win the lottery/ accomplish world domination I'd like to own one.

Hmm. I guess they mean next winter 2008, because its currently winter 08, and considering its pre-alpha...

Looks el neato, I hope they clean up the textures quite a bit, the second fly through of scenery looks amazing, but the rest looks kinda disappointing considering its the Crysis engine, but I would imagine that is because its still early. So my hopes and dreams aren't crushed yet.

It's my only reason to buy crysis. If it comes out then I'll buy it. I hope it dosn't flop, cause it sure seems like crysis got off to a rough start.

crysis was a great game, and this mod improves it 10000000%. The mod has over 40 members working on it, and they models are amazing (the high res ones). Can you guys imagine what its going to be like, pounding 100ton mechs through the trees!

cant wait!

Holy Jesus. Crysis calls to me now. There was no way in hell I would buy crysis, but with this coming out... I'm pretty sure I will.

I really had no interest in Crysis [and not just because it would chew up my video card and laugh], but If/when this mod finishes, I'll be buying crysis and whatever video card I have to so that it looks great!

Haven't had a MW game since MW2 Titanium edition... back when I was on windows 95
Could never get it to work on XP, and don't think I even have the disk anymore :( Could really use a fix though, might have to look into that sourcecode linked further up once I get another hard drive.
