when my pc is loading up Windows 98SE, this error messege pops up.

While initializing divice IOS:
Error: Real mode system memory allocation failed.

what do i do to get my PC running again??. right now I'm on my dad's laptop. This is just one of the many problems I'm having with my PC

First, if your system is overclocked, return the speed to normal.

I suggest running MemTest86 on the system to see if the memory is working properly, then running the hard disk diagnostics to make sure that's working. If both are, try re-installing Win98

I'm pretty sure it's the mobo or windows because i just bought a new stick of RAM and it still says the same thing. I cant convince my stubborn dad to by a new PC. So i'll try what you said and get a summer job.... unless anyone here is willing to donate parts
