Not too shabby, despite the lack of new CP. They gave me 17 points increase in my 3DMark03 score... I'm up to 6293 now, from 6276. Nothing huge... but still... a little higher. ;)

I haven't benched yet, but played Wolfenstein ET for a while and did not notice any improvements at all. I was hoping that the new drivers would cure the problem that I have when running ET that the resolution switches to 800*600 before it enters the games 1280*1024. I am also still experiencing problems going when alt-tabbing from games to windows, back to games... the brightness goes way down. Maybe the next set of drivers will cure this!

Haven't tested for "real world" performance gains yet... but I'm not expecting to see much gain over what I've already seen... maybe 1 or 2 additional fps tops...

cat 4.7 is good got 100 more in 3dmark03, also seems more stable with overclocks

You know, I saw considerably fewer artifacts in the PS2 (Rhino & Elephant test) w/ the 4.7's. W/ drivers 4.6 and under, I always got a little bit of snow in the shadowy areas on the objects, but w/ the 4.7's I didn't notice any. Wonder if I'll be able to up my core a little bit more...

It could be possible that ATi may release the new control panel when Catalyst version 5.0 starts or something?..
ATi Cat numbering method:
Major number: year (4.X = 2004)
Minor number: ~month: (X.7 = ~7th month = ~July)

We get a new driver every ~month (in the last 7 months they've average once a month), typically the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

So I hope we get it before 2005 :)

OpenGL 2.0 and Doom III are due out in August, so maybe we'll see both the new control panel and the new OpenGL driver in 4.8. I'd guess Wednesday Aug 11th for a release date.

what bout october(10th month) november(11th month) and december(12thmonth). will it be 4.10 ? which makes no sense or it might be 4.9.10(11/12)?

ATI had a Cat 3.10 last year. So yes, it appears that if they have 12 versions this year it will be Cat 4.12, etc.
