Microphone prob with Fortissimo 2

I just got myself a Hercules Fortissimo 2. It's pretty cool but the only prob is that the microphone doesn't work anymore. I thought it was my mic that was broken so i got a new one. but it doesn't work either. Everytime i speak i get a crackling noise well when i yell otherwise there's no sound. even tried the newest drivers. Help
