I just picked up a Lite On cdrw/dvd comdo drive (internal) but i need to decide whether to get a mid tower or just an enclosure for the drive itself.. im looking to build a rig soon anyways so I wwould consider a tower with a ****y psu for now--considering that only the cdrwdrive will be running. but the trick is that im using a laptop, so if i do go with a tower how do i convert it to work with my laptops usb port..?

also, Dim145(w)41.3(H)170(D) is essential the 3.5 bay ..right?
Thanks.

I checked NewEgg and found the adapter that you would need. Here's a linky GWC USB 2.0 to IDE Adapter . Now it doesn't look like the cable will be long enough so here are some links for extension cables:

Alpha Digital USB 2.0 Extension 6 Ft.

Alpha Digital USB 2.0 Extension 10 Ft.

Alpha Digital USB 2.0 Extension 15 Ft.

I am guessing the dimensions your talking about are in millimeters. So those would roughly equil a 5 1/4inch drive bay.

You could setup the drive in a 5 1/4 bay. Then connect the adapter and have the extension cable running out the back of the case through an open AGP/PCI bracket.

its weird how that adapter is as expensive as this external case but i guess it would more efficient in the long run to go with the adapter and tower rather than the hard case...thanks again.
