I was able to pick up a Gigabyte "Windforce" R9 390 8gb for dirt cheap, previous owner thought there was an issue with it but I was easily able to correct it. I decided to crossfire it with my Asus "Strix" R9 390 8gb. I ran both 3DMark 11 and 3DMark Fire Strike and neither recognizes my cards as crossfire R9 390s but instead as 'Generic VGA'. Although a very minor issue, how can I fix this?

Already did that, 3 times. The first time it didn't even recognize dual cards, but both times after that it did as Generic VGA.

Did you use the ati driver removal tool to completely remove the drivers before doing a fresh install?

I almost wonder if the 890X chipset supports bridgeless Crossfire...

Amd has a utility that will completely uninstall the drivers if you think it is a bad driver install.
