I plan to buy this ASUS A7A266 and place 3G of SDRAM in it. I want to buy it b/c I need that much ram for my apps. I think it is a hot board. Anybody has any input on this board. I'm not familiar with Ali chipset. Let me know your good and bad experience with this board. Should I buy it. Are there any other mobo I could use with at list 3G ram?
Thanks.

well just so you know there is only 3 sdram slots and 2 ddr ram slots. I dunno about you but i have never seen any 1 gig sticks of sdram yet hehe. Once they come out it will suport it is what it means... So you will actually only be able to get 3 512mb stick giving you 1.5gb of ram... Might not be the mobo you need you could get one with 4 sdram slots and no ddr slots...

In addition, you'd be spending more $$ on the A7A than on a mb that doesn't support DDR. I have an A7A and I like it, but I use the DDR. I think you'd be better off with a motherboard dedicated to large amounts of SDRAM.

PS: don't use sdram and ddr together. the ddr takes up 2.5 volts, while the old sdram uses 3.3 volts..you can fry your ddr.

If you go to pricewatch.com and look under system memory, you will see stores selling 1gb,2gb, and even 4gb modules of ram.
