Anyone know what motherboard has the widest range of FSB ability? Im looking at getting a epox8k7a+, abit KG7, FIC AD11, or gigabyte7DXr with a 1.4ghz pro. and 512 pc 2400. And I want to know which has the most ability to mess around with.

thanks ron

I was looking at some kt133a motherboard comparisons at anandtech.com and the msi k7t turbo-r limited has fsb up to 199!!! and clock multiplier to 15x!!!! It also has raid if you plan on using that. Its also a cool red color. I got the version w/o raid a couple of days ago.

Well, the range of FSB settings vs. actual attainable FSB are two different things. I've heard that the KK266 generally has the ability to reach super-high FSB.

Wild_Andy_C has his TBird up to 185 MHz FSB or so.... I wonder what board he's using..... :)

I read that the KK266 did 159mhz stable which was 10mhz higher than its closest competitor... Was on amdmb.com website I think. And I just happen to have that board, lucky me :)

Andy knows a heckuvalot about the EPoX-8K7A, as he's given me a lot of good information on mine. (And probably a lot of other people too, as evidenced by the threads) My bet would be that that's the board he has. Maybe he can clarify if he happens to read this thread.

A motherboard thats Red?? Why not make one thats Light green lol

Recent BIOSes for the Epox 8K7A support 200 Mhz FSB and a 1/5 PCI divisor to keep your PCI and AGP cards happy. I haven't personally tried these new BIOSes but my older BIOS limited to 166 Mhz FSB and a 1/4 PCI divisor still has no problem reaching 166 Mhz. The 8K7A is a solid board. I prefer to keep my FSB below 153 Mhz so I can continue to use the fastest 8-8-6-2-2-2-2 memory timings. I need to experiment with higher FSB speeds when I get the time.

It also does 1/6 PCI aswell when you get some memory that kicks it even further !!!!

Don't dismiss the 8KHA with a BETA BIOS flash either though - mind boggling memory bandwidth from the new KT266e after everone wrote off the original KT266. Rumor is that it's the SiS 735 reverse engineered and remade to accomodate V-Link.

Anyone beat 184Mhz cos I got some new dimms coming soon I hope to do way in excess of 200Mhz with.
