At work the computer "expert" made the following boxes the PC Chips 810series mobo, 850mhz Athlon processor, Western Digital wb-300-bb ATA/100 30gig hard drive, 256megs PC133 memory and a Deer DR-A250atx power supply.....These boxes are pure junk!!!! Suggestions on a new mobo and Athlon approved power supply would be greatly appreciated....mind you these were supposed to be graphics work stations.....Hope you dont die laughing. Any way any help fixing these boxes would be greatly appreciated.

more ram at www.crucial.com for 50
1.2gig tbird at www.tcwo.com for 101
antec-inc.com get a real case with a 350watt ps don't order from them but find retailer who carries nice case/ps. i don't know what mobo to recommend cuz I don't know what Graphics card you are using so let me know. otherwise go for the kk266 at www.newegg.com.

the mobo has onboard video....i am considering the matrox g450 or the gainward geforce2 twinview golden sample vivo. dual monitor capable important with 3d gaming not very important. Image quality and the ability to do some video editing with twin display are the deciding factors

No offense but a graphics workstation with onboard video that is a hoot.

What size monitors have you got? 21" is highly recommended, 19" will do, 17" is passible for minimal work anything less is totally unacceptable. I have been doing computer graphics professionally for 17 years and productivity is enhanced by larger screen size.

I also posted on the other thread you have on the same subject, board: Iwill KK266 or Abit KT7E (KT133E chipset), PSU: 300W AMD approved, or any 350 or 400W. You want these for graphics workstations? Get a good GeForce 2 MX (or other GeForce based card) card and use the SoftQuattro software conversion and you'll get most of the advantages of a Quattro card, FYI a quattro is Nvidia's High end Graphics card, competes with 3D Labs Oxygen cards, a very expensive card, but you can convert a GeForce using software for nothin! and remember "Friends don't let friends buy PC Chips!" hahaha...
