NOTE: I do not hold my self responsable for any damage done to you, your items, or somone else. This MOD will void your warrenty on your speakers.

When I first got my Creative Inspire 5300 5.1 speaker set, I was immidialtly disapointed to find that all of the cords were permanetly attached to the back of the speaker. This is fine for the front speakers, however I was planning on hanging the surround speakers from the bottom of my bed (I have a loft and my computer is underneeth). unfortunatly the cords that were attached were not quite long enough. I took a trip to Radio Shack to look at their audio parts and decided to to add some spring clips to the back of the speakers.

That is not the exact part, but the ones avalable in the store look about the same but are not gold-plated.

Modding The Speakers:

Pull the face plate off and locate the 4 screws, unscrew these and remove the cover and the speaker from the speaker housing. Pull off the cotton-like pad. using a pair of wire cutters cut the speaker cord from the inside of the speaker. Use an X-Acto knife to slice the cable from the back. Next use a dremel to cut some slits into the case (see picture).

Pop the terminals off of their plastic base and slip them through the holes you cut, and glue them in (I used silicon rubber adhesive) Solder the speaker onto the terminals, put the cotton pad back in, and reassemble the speaker.
