More power = better O/C?

Ok i been trying to get my 1.6a to 2.4. I got a Powermax 500watt PSU. I can't seem to get it stable at 2.4 so I switch out the PSU with my Channel Well 400watt, which is the same as the Antec 403x. After I change the psu I notice the system is more stable. I can run Prime95 longer before I get an error. So should I get a different PSU to power my system? I got lots of stuff running off of it. 3 cd drives, 10 fans and etc. What brand should I get if I do decide to get a different PSU?

PSU's are very important for keeping your system stable. Especially with the power hungry athlons.
