Is there any rank of most powerful PC's in the world, could you send me a link? I know about futuremark.com, but I have to download and register their software. Maybe some personal pages? Thanks.

There are some processors + manufacturers I have never heard about.

What's this 5120 NEC on the top?

A Japanese processor? Better than all the Intel, AMD, Apple, IBM, etc.? It says "The world most powerful..blah blah blah" on the first site you linked.

I bet it's no good for gaming right?

those processors are usually used in setups that need to crunch ALOT of numbers. since those CPU's were designed for that sole purpose i doubt they even support half the stuff games would recquire.

I know the super computer on the top list used tons of these processors, but I was talking about the performance of a single one. The link says "the world most powerful". It was talking about a single processor.

Its a massive failure at the box office - such as the Affleck/Jlo movie....
It is also 1 thousand million floating point operations per second. :p

are you sure? I thought that movie was more than a gigaflop! lol

It's the worls's most powerful super computer currently, not the most powerful cpu. GFLOPS is GigaFLOPS, a FLOPS being Floating Point OPerations per Second, I believe. 8GFLOPS is 8,000,000,000 floating point operations per second. Keep in mind that this is a theoretical maximum. I don't pretend to know what the best CPU in the world is. The NEC one is good, but probably not entirely suitable for the desktop market. Anyone remember the FLOPS on a P4 off hand?

I would think it'd be 8,000,000 FLOPS. Why? Giga = 1 million, a Gigabyte is 1,000kilobytes, and a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes. 1,000x1,000=1,000,000
