This may be old news, but....
After reading this http://www.viahardware.com/faq/kt7/kt7faq.htm looking for how increasing the FSB Plus feature affected the PCI bus, I found a tip suggesting to Enable DRAM 4K Page Mode. I did so and ran Sisoft Sandra 2001se and realized a 6% gain in memory ALU performance, and a 2% gain in CPU ALU performance.
Even if you don't have an Abit board, this should be available in your BIOS and is a quick 6% gain in memory performance.
My new numbers are
Memory ALU: 561
Memory FPU: 588
