I have a USB mouse (razer boomslang) plugged into my keyboard's USB hub. And when I start X my mouse doesn't respond, until I logout, unplug the mouse and plug it back in, and the log back in. Any suggestions why this might be happening

TIA

Sounds to me like you don't have your USB mouse module loading at boot. Add a line in your booting scripts to load this. I bet if you boot without it plugged in then plug it in it'll work. Most linux USB programs will load your HID devices at boot, but it looks like yours isn't.

That's what i thought at first, but that wasn't the problem. When I biffed my install of the nvidia drivers and needed to recreate a new xf86config file, my mouse started working fine. thanks for the suggestion though
