Well, ... looking for a new mouse.

Currently I have logitech 2 button with a wheel scroller - which is 4 years old now. It gets dirty quick 'cause the mousepad is dirty and so on.

I use ps2rate adjuster for smooth cursor movement, it helps to acheive about 160-180 Hz on mouse port compared to usual 60 Hz.

I wanted to find out how are those optical mice? Is there way to adjust mouse port speed, 'cause most of them use USB port? Is anyone using wireless mouse, how is it?

Finally, what is your brand of choice? Microsoft, Logitech, etc.?

Regards

P.S.
I play lotta Q2, and luv smooth cursor movement in Windows ... 98se using ps2rate prog.:burn:burn:

hey...

a friend of mine has an logitech optical wireless mouse...I brought it all the way across the kitchen, and there seems to be no problems...i suppose it uses radio frequencies of some sort, and minor obstructions shouldnt be a problem...

as far as optical mice go and what we here think about them....this thread

i love my logitech 2x optical. and most mice you can use either in the ps2 port or a usb port with the adapter that usually comes with them. I also have a logitech wireless marble trackman fx mosue, it is deadly accurate.

I use a microsoft optical(the first version that came out), one of my brothers uses the Microsoft Explorer Optical, and another brother who uses a logitech optical. They are all good, I'ved used them all at one point or another. Personally I like mine. it looks and feels like a regular two-button scroll mouse, without the extra buttons.

I use an Inteliimouse Explorer Optical, it gets the job done for me, EXCEPT in games like Q3. The little camera in there just can't keep up with me when I flick the mouse really fast for a rail shot- for games I stick with a ball mouse.

I hear that the newer optical mice work fine for fast games now, tho. The Logitech optical seems to be a favorite.
