Hey All...

Dumb question. I have upgraded my rig as best I know how, except for the mouse. I currently have an old Logitech First Wheel Mouse (USB) that I have had for over three years.

I have researched/upgraded my video card, sound, mobo, cpu, memory, etc, but never thought an upgrade to my mouse would "mean" much.

In looking at some things online, everyone seems to dig the Intellimouses, the newer Logitech optical mouse, etc.

My main use for my rig is for gaming and internet use, and I have some friends that tell me the mouse makes a difference in gaming, and some that do not. Bottomline, a) is it worth it to upgrade to a better mouse, and b) what would you recommend, or where can I look for reviews of mice.

Thanks for your patience.

The mouse sensitivity/movement shouldn't matter unless it's optical. for trackball mice, just keep the ball & rollers clean and it will move well every time. However, the feel/max clickrate of a mouse can.

Currently I use the Logitech MX700
with theses spec:

Image Processing: 4.7 megapixels/sec
Resolution: 800 dpi
Acceleration: 10g
Speed: 40 inches/sec

I play alot of on line games from Quake III to UT2003 and many other first person shooters. I also spend a fair amount of time on the net.

Some more spec's on it

New benchmark in optical systems combines high resolution and high frame rate to achieve superior performance.
Ground-breaking new engine captures more data every second, measuring even the smallest movement.
800-dpi sensor ensures unparalleled accuracy.
Advanced digital radio technology provides the performance of a corded USB device within a six-foot range.
Rapid charge base station combines both receiver and charger in one to ensure that your mouse is always ready for work (or play).
Cruise Control™ system combines two buttons with scroll wheel to ease scrolling through long documents or web sites.
Quick Switch Program Selector moves you between active documents and programs.
Two thumb buttons let you move forward or backward between pages.
Sleek contoured shape fits snugly into your right hand.
Five-year warranty

I was never a big fan of cordless mice but I found this one to be exceptional, I especially like the rechargeable docking station.

Hope this helped
