Here is my current system. Can I upgrade this or should I build a whole new system? What do you guys suggest? All I use this for is gaming. I'd upgrade it all (minus power supply). The 5000 series processors, while a bit of an upgrade, isn't worth it if you have the budget for a new system. If you're after gamer, go x670/x870 and get a 9800x3d.

Any specifics or do you have a build I could reference? Also, think I'll stick with Nvidia for the GPU. Thinking RTX 4070 super maybe?

What's your budget for the parts you'll need, not counting the GPU (mobo, ram, processor)

I was thinking $1500ish

Sorry I misunderstood...$1500 or so for everything is what I meant.

I'm also fine with buying used parts or off AliExpress as well.

Holy cow what happened in that post, LOL?!!! We have an EDIT button if you want to update things. ;)

Anyway, to be clear, $1,500 is for CPU, Mobo, RAM, and the GPU (is that what you meant by everything?), correct?

Microcenter Ryzen 5 7600X3D bundle with an RTX 4070 Ti Super - $1,200. A Ryzen 7 7800X3D bundle with an RTX 4070 Ti Super is $1,400.

Nearest microcenter near me is 2 hours away :(

I'm curious (and for the OP)...what makes a 4 hour round trip worth it with the things you've seen in this thread (specifically the post above yours)?
They often have bundle options for CPU/RAM or CPU/Mobo or Mobo/RAM so the savings + having it in your hands that day IMO tend to be worth it. Plus I do 3d printers so I often stock up on parts and filament at the same time.

Nothing wrong with https://newegg.com that E_D showed. I would like to point out a newegg annoyance for the OP. You really have to look at their affiliate partners. $348 isn't a bad price for the CPU, but the seller is in China & ships from China. You buy something from the egg expecting it in a few days, then find out it might be a few weeks instead.
Usually you can check a 'shipped by newegg' button to avoid that problem.

Good catch!

Personally, IDC where you get it... I just list the parts he can get for that budget. My underlying point is that you can get a better CPU (9700X - that games about as well as 7800X3D, but beats it in most others things) with a better mobo for a remarkably similar price.

If Im driving 4 hours round trip, it's going to take more than saving a few dollars (NE has combo deals too...) and picking up some extras i can get at the same e-commerce store for me to do so. :)

Thanks for all the feedback! Should I part my old system out or sell it complete?

Also, with ram isnt CL30 the best?

6000 CL30 or 6400 CL32. It doesn't matter much for Ryzen X3D as it performs almost the same.

For a cheap gaming upgrade, Microcenter has the 5700X3D 8C/16T for just $180.
I installed the open box 5700X3D I picked up for $144 at Microcenter and installed it yesterday. Runs fine, no problems.
