Hi guys,

Been seing some used MP 1800s going cheaper than XP 1800s, since I am gonna buy one soon, I was wondering if I might get more :burn: :burn: :burn: out of an MP than an XP.

I'd wait for the thoroughbred, but I think it will be out of budget for me until probably September, and then they start getting factory fires, and "oh no, demand is outstripping supply" sudden panics, to help hold the price for the Xmas buying season

Thanks,

I think both should get you about the same amount of OC, as both use the same core and packaging. only difference is that (as I heard, cannot confirm) MPs are factory unlocked, and XPs aren't, you'll have to unlock them yourself

My understanding was that the MP parts were selected to have particularly clean signals and a lower glitch rate, I thought that might translate into better overclocks.

The MP's are guarenteed to work in dually or quad mobo's. The XP's aren't. They are the same packaging, and to the best of my knowledge, they are the same proc, only with the guarntee of working in a dually setup. They may be manufactured better, giving them the ability to guarantee it, buy i've also heard that the XP's working in multi-proc setups just fine.

If you can get the MP for cheaper than the XP than take it. If all else fails at least you can sell it for the same price. The MP1800's are 180, and the XP1800 are 122 on PW.COm. Then once you find out (which i would imagine you will be happy with it) you can tell us how it turned out.
