Ive been looking at the MSI K7N2-L Nforce 2 mobo for a pc im building for a freind who needs stability and preformance... and I was wondering if there are any bad sides to this board? It seems like it has a good price and has nice features that will suit his needs. Oh this mobo does have some kind of CPU burn-protection in it since it was made past july right? LOL just wanna double check that one even tho i kno its prob yes.. i just really dont want to screw up on a pc my freind is really waiting for. Thanks guys!

I love this board, but for some reason I keep getting "Floppy Fail 40" when it boots up. If you don't need a floppy, this board rocks for the price.

hehe sounds like the floopy controler on ur board might have gotten damaged or was defective(unless u plugged the cord in wrong).. any one else have/ kno a good amount of info on this board?

oh yea, I havent built a system with an Nforce 2 board b4 but I believe they have Dual Channel Memory support right? Now if I want to use the dual channel I would stick one mem stick in the slot by itself (its apart from the other 2) and one in the slot with another slot right next to it right? (That Q is just out of curiosity) But for my freinds system I just want to put a 512MB Stick of PC2700 in it. Does it matter which slot I put that 1 stick in?

The manual says it doesn't matter if I recall correctly. As for dual channel, yes it supports it, and there is a couple different combinations that will work.

ok the msi k7n2 is a GRRRRRRRREAT! board....wasily able to hit 200fsb.....i have owned 3 and have loved them all.....great price and AMAZING stability and performance....have no fear with this board..as for dual channel 1 and 3 is supposedly the best config....this board rocks I am sure your friend will have more then he needs:D

Thanks guys! I put this board on the list of parts for his system.. he'll be sure to love it!.. especially since he's been waiting for a new system for a little while now. :)

Its a good clean fast stable board. I have one. The sound isn't storm though which is where its lacking as well I believe the pci doesn't lock. The only really known issue is some of these boards start chirping. Yes chirping it gets loud I heard. Seems to come from the black square box close to cpu. The best bet from amd forums was to not plug in the 4pin 12v from the get go. But if you have one and it does chirp take it back. I had the 4pin plugged in and nothing but i run it without it anyway seems amd said it wasn't necessary. Probably is only if your powersupply is below standard.

also floppy fail if plugged in right happens when bad solder connections are done. Take it back get a new one
