Any opinions on this board. The system will not be overclocked. I just want to know if anyone has had any problems with this board. Im new to AMD so I dont know much about the AMD mobos or ddr.

Im getting this board with a 1.333 T-Bird for $300 bucks wich seems like a good deal to me.

Thanks

Well in many of the early reviews there were problems with stability and performance, but that was due to MSI rushing (sending out faulty boards, slow shipping BIOS, leaked unstable performance bios, etc) and VIA not doing a perfect job with the KT266 (now VIA plan to release a new revision it seems in July that should be better). However, it seems performance and stability aren't too bad now as long as you flash the board to the latest BIOS and use the latest VIA chipset drivers. Here are some recent reviews that use the newer BIOS:

If you are curious about the other DDR chipsets, there is an overview that compares all the main DDR chipsets for AMD processor, but it's in German so use Bablefish to translate. This overview includes some benchmarks of all the different chipsets.

I just bought the same mainboard and im very happy with it :D Got an Athlon 1.4gHz strapted to it and ive had no problems with it yet.

Except for one... The AMD 761 miniAGP drivers for WinMe caused my computer to lock up whenever I used any 3D games... but it works fine without the patch.

I do suggest you get the latest bios flash :)

GREAT point. The MSI K7 Master 266 use's the AMD 761 chipset.

I got this MB in combo with a Tbird CPU and I paid for it to be tested but when it got to be one of the RAM slots didn't work. I tried to reseat the RAM and then all of the RAM slots quit working so I had to RMA it back. That makes me mad because I paid for it to be tested and then I had to pay to ship it back. I have since heard that the MSI QC isn't very good.
