MTH and MCH voltages

I have a voltage question concerning when to adjust the MCH/MTH voltages when o.c.ing. on a mobo with Intel's now infamous 820 chip set goof. The mobo I am referring too is an Asus P3C2000. These voltage settings I am referring too are used to change the voltages to the cpu's I/O buffer. What I am wondering is when and at what point making changes to the cpu's I/O buffer voltages be applied. I currently o.c. the FSB @146.
