The MX400 may have a slightly higher core speed and memory speed, but does it really have better performance. Logic would say yes, however many a review from the front page stated otherwise, and there are many people in this forum who have also stated contrary to that logic. So If I have a choice between 50 bucks for geforce 2 MX200 card and 70 bucks a geforce 2 MX400 card what is a better value? I dont do much gaming, so i dont need the latest technology. Also, do generic or house brands perform as well or close to as well as big brands like leadtek?

As gaming isn't real important to you, and moolah seems to be an issue, looks like the MX 200 is the better choice. Personally, I avoid generic everything. This is hard on the pocketbook, but makes for boxes that are less troublesome. In general and in Linux.

There ARE decent non-name brand components, but I don't know which ones they are. Sorry!

The MX200 is even worse than the the MX400. Other than that there's no obvious difference between the chips. I'd suggest avoiding both of them.
