My 400w Antec PSU makes a funny noise!

This is probably normal, but it bugs me!

When the comps off and you get up close to the PSU you can hear a funny high pitch electical sound. Just wondering if anyone else has this?

It came with my Antec 1040b case. Had it for a month now, but I only just started using it less than a week ago.

I just turned my comp off to listen to it again, can't hear it once its going even with my head against it. It actually makes a sound like a sqeeky bike brake sqeeky-hum sqeeky-hum sqeeky-hum sqeeky-hum...

if its like a camra flash charging then it is the capaciters charging up other wise if its much lower like 50 - 60 hz then it will be a bit of mains humm this may be a lose screw or a capaciter thats dieing my amp does this if u got a big amp does it sond like this.
i recon its just the caps i would not worry

Just one thing I want to know is when my PSU does die will it damage my system or will it cut off without touching my valuble hardware?

yea i have a 500 wat psu and my thing makes a noise like that its hard to explain its sorta like a ring in ur ear buggs me sometimes but that smell is a new power supply smell give it 3 weeks or so itll go away and that noise is from larg power supplys
