Well. Here's my minimod.

Just popped a IceBerg4 and some Lapped with AS5 TweakMonster Ramsinks.

Getting good results, though my Ram speed seems limited. I can only get 345Mhz stable OC on my Ram, while my core goes 370Mhz and beyond.

Anyways, here's the pic.

Yes, the first pic has aluminum foil to cover the PCI slots. Yes my HSF sucks. Will get my SLK800A on Monday.

See that naked south bridge? I have a Crystal Orb... that doesn't fit. Any suggestions?

why in the world would you need aggresive cooling let alone any cooling at all for a southbridge.

because it gets really hot and can give many weird problems. Sound curruption is probably the 1st one that shows up.

My guess would be considering that is an NF7-S, he is doing some decent O/Cing and with that said the southbirdge gets a little warm for my tasts.

Yes. SB Get's hot. Sound get's corrupted. Pretty much anything that get's hot, I would like to cool.

this is off of the topic, but what can you put on the southbridge to keep it cool? I just got my abit board and have not messed with overclocking at all yet but will soon and i dont want to overheat anything. Just get some big ramsinks? Then how would you stick it on there?

i ordered a soyo kt600 board several months ago, but then opted for Abit's model. the soyo board had a nice heatsink on the southbridge but not the abit, interesting because they were the same model of board. well, the abit is in my box and has the heatsink on it now (it was applied with thermal tape, easy to remove and on there fine even after reapplication to the abit board), and the soyo board is my test board, possibly my wife's board sometime in the future. i have heard that cooling the southbridge can reduce problems caused by increased FSB.

I used the heatsink from a dead MSI board's northbridge on my southbridge. I was getting sound corruption a lot, but that fixed it right up.

By the way, nice job....wow, that's really bright when it's lit up...

any suggestions on where to get good southbridge cooling kits or heatsinks that will fit on the abit board?

You best bet might be to get a TIM pad or put a very small ammount of super glue on the corners and just use an old heatsink. It worked fine with my 815 northbridge and a Athlon heatsink, but don't expect it to come off. My computer got bumped and it knocked the heatsink off causing a lot of cosmetic damage to the northbridge.

I used a ramsink/PLL heatsink on my southbridge (NF7-S) and it works fine, and it's cool to the touch. No need to cover the whole thing with a giant heatsink, just the center is fine. I have real good case ventilation though, so that might play a part in this as well.

Whatever you use, make sure it doesn't interfere with your expansion cards!
