The back of the PCB is running 125 degrees fahrenheit, or 51C.

Right, this is with the stock cooler and a 60mm 30cfm fan blowing on the heatsink aswell.

It seems whatever I try I can't get them down. It locks up during a game, and I need this rig for a LAN party tomorrow.

thats not bad... i have a thermal sensor right next to my core, it reaches over 80c, i was reading stuff today, the average temp of the core on a 9800 pro is 79.6c so you dont have anything to be worried about.

Well, it worries me that it locks up during games. Those temps were just idle sitting in windows.

I lower the core clock to 300mhz, and I'm stable. I just ordered a VGA silencer for it, so I geuss it can't hurt.

Well, I put on old 9800np's heatsink, and it seems ot be doing just fine now.

Maybe that HS was just a POS or something. wierdest thing ever, but I suppose that's why it was a refurb on newegg though.
