My abit kt7a and sound blaster 5.1 HATE each other!

Can any body help me! I'm pulling out my hair with this mobo. I 've tried everything, my mobo does not agree with my sound card (Creative SB 5.1). If I unstall the card the system runs stable, however if I install the card my system freezes. The IRQ setting are ok and sb16 emulation driver has its own irq which is ok. However my system still freezes which pisses me off.
Did anyone else have similar probs and how did you solve it!

My spec is

AMD 200fsb 1.1 gig
Temps ok not oc
mobo abit kt7a
creative dxr3
creative agp g-force 256
20gig IBM hd
DVD 12X

Please help!

Check out www.viahardware.com. The KT7A is very picky about where you put the PCI cards. There are alot of conflicts, ESPECIALLY with soundblaster cards! I switched mine around and everything works fine now. Good Luck!

do you need the soundblaster 16 emulation?

if you don't need it, disable it, that might help it out a little....
