Hi I have a major problem.... I just bought my new Asus(r)(tm) card, connected everything (cables...), My CPU AMD Duron 900(r)(tm), 128MbPc100+64MbPc100,DVD,Sony(r)(tm)CDRW.. . ..
And when the final moment was in I pushed the power button the pc went on for about 1 sec (or less) and then off again. The thing is that the power is still on the MB because the little green light is still on on the MB so it gets power I think. I tried to connect every thing off, the cpu..... but the same thing, iv checked the multi-pliers for 10 times it cant be that and it cant be the CPU I think because its the same thing w hen I took it of...
Thanks for a answer soon... If I cant solve this thing I must send the MB t oo the company and pay everything myself!!??
Thanx[fixed][/fixed](r)(tm)[4][/4]

Try removing all cards except the video card....does it boot? If so, put in cards one at a time to determine bad guy.
If not, are there any postcode beeps when you apply power? One long, two short = video card; many short = RAM; one short = post OK.

If no postcode beeps at all, then remove all cards and remove all cables from back except power cord. Are there any beeps? See above.

Disconnect hard drive, CD-rom, and floppy. Does it boot? Postcodes?

Try clearing the CMOS...see the MOBO manual. Does it boot? No, then remove CPU chip. Any postcode beeps? See above. Remove RAM. Any postcodes? If no beeps, then MOBO is bad.

One last thing. I have gone through all of this several times and removed the RAM and CPU multiple times and cleared the BIOS several times and then.... It miraculously came alive....I have no clue. But, that is the procedure.

This may be a stupid question, but do you have a heatsink/fan on your cpu?
Thanx to you both for e ven looking intoo my messege!!
And the answr is to ya both, 1: i have tired too do everything ya wrote too me e! but one thing i d ont have any CMOS reseter on my asus!=??!?!?!?!
2:heheh off copurse i have done that An damn Orb super mini or some.....

Yes you do have a reset point! Read your manual. There are two solder points near the corner of the MOBO where all the drives plug in. You can read the stenciling on the MOBO above the solder points which says "Clear..." or something similar. I don't remember exactly. You just short the two solder points with a small screwdriver. However, don't try it unless you are certain of the exact location of the solder points.

By the way.... you answered the previous messager who asked about the heat sink fan in an unclear way. As best I could tell you said you had an ORB heatsink on the CPU. If so get another one. Those are notorious for not cooling very well. Also, carefully inspect your CPU chip for any sign of overheat (burn spots, smell bad, etc.)

The solder points are usually identified by the marking "CLRTC". The manual describes how to clear the CMOS probably under the heading of "Forgot you password" or something similar.

Hi ya all friendly folks in here who has answered my post!!! Ok I've took my CPU too a computer store and they checked it and told me that it was dead (!!!).
