I think its time i move on to OC'ing my GPU.
It's been time, LOL!

MSI afterburner or OC in the bios or some AMD app? Also if you can pass along what your speeds and voltages that would help too.
Ill do all the research i just need an angle to start from. Oh and the best benchmarks and stress tests would help.
MSI AB or AMD's Performance Tuning. I prefer MSI AB. Not sure if Sapphire has anything.

Check out reviews like techpowerup who lists their OC clocks while you wait for someone to reply. But it will vary by card.

I like to loop UL's 3DMark benchmarks (Speedway, Steel Nomad, Time Spy Extreme, Fire Strike Ultra) for final testing.

yes its over due to get this 9070xt breathing fire. But i wanted to focus on one thing at a time.
I have Afterburner installed but ill check sapphire also, Techpowerup is a much better place to start as YT videos can be very wrong also with people who dont know what they are doing.
Fur Mark is good for stress testing i think and will add that to the to the 3D Mark tests.
I now have my CPU at 5.8Ghz and its max's out at 95C with no throttling from what HWinfo64, And i feel its time to move on as im temp limited atm.

...you don't say? Some people take them as The Gospel and need talked down off the ledge, lol.

Furmark, IMNSHO, is trash for stress testing as it's a "power virus" (says NV and AMD). Essentially it can stress things so hard that the clockspeeds drop WAY below what you're running them at (so what's the point?). I've stayed away from Furmark for the last several years. I suggest you do the same. :)

Their reviews list the OC clocks they reached, so yeah. If you're into cookie cutter settings, that's the way.

Here's a great vid on messing with 9070XT clocks. You're undervolting here again. ;)

You da man Dog!
No FurMark then....
Ive learned many things on YT yes, But it can lead to a mess if you get the wrong video..
Thanks for the video ill watch it and then head too TPU for written reviews.

I use the AMD Adrenaline interface to overclock. Works fine and I don't have another app running. I haven't played with the VRAM yet, just lowered Voltage Offset, raised the Power Limit & set a custom fan curve. That video is interesting, he's playing with the Red Devil which is what I'm using.

Ill give that a look as it looks easier to see what im doing.
I cant get the full 3DMark test just steel nomad. Is there a place to get the full version?

back in the day 3DMark was my main tool for my GPU testing. How much they charging for it?

I rarely overclock video cards anymore...just try to have at least one on hand that I know won't struggle in my games. I use the AMD software as well as it gives me all I need to configure fan speeds. Afterburner is great and I run it all the time for the overlay in games. Why not let your games and the often included in-game benchmarks be your guide? If you can't see a difference in game the results are really useless.

I like testing in 3DM then finalizing in my games. To test in games or in-game benchmarks is a bit cumbersome because they are full screen and alt-tab doesn't always work nice.

I havent overclocked a gpu in years either... but ive had flagships and it wasn't necessary at my resolution.

I agree about the alt-tab thing. That is why I use Afterburner/Riva to keep track.

Im just Gonna go mild and im using the AMD software. I have RivaTuner to run in game i just need to configure it again.
From what Debauer said you can undervote these and still oc them higher.

On my GPU I have it 2 or 3 ticks away from a crash on the core, and the mem might be able to go a bit more.. but I honestly dont care. This core is gimped pretty hard from Nvidia, any extra mem speed makes zero difference here.

Good luck with your GPU clocking.. I haven't had an ATi GPU since the 4890. Man I hated that card so much I gave it away here on this forum for free lol.

I think i pushed it to its max with +600 mhz on the core, Undervolted .9v and +2800 on the memory. Now i just need to a stronger stress test.
The first pic is my stock score and then my settings and new results and even HWM64.

I could have pushed my core past 600Mhz but i wasnt seeing much improvement so i stopped at 600Mhz OC, I pushed my memory till i saw artifacts and then backed it down. The undervolt somehow gives the best OC's weird how they have this thing running that you get faster with less volts. all that work for 6 FPS lol just as long as its safe.

It works the same as auto boost on AMD CPUs. Lower voltage = lower temps + higher power headroom = higher boost.
I mentioned it in another thread, but depending on the card, they act differently, so I wouldn't look at general guides on the web. Der8auer has already presented at least three different results with different cards. The first one was taken globally as a rule and reposted around the web. The news said that all these cards run this way ... the following results were different, because he used different cards.

The negative offset varies depending on power design, power limits, and GPU quality. Also, depending on the test/game, the card needs a different voltage for full stability. My card crashes in 3DM Steel Nomad below -75mV, while it passes all other 3DMarks at -100mV. Early news suggested they can go down to -140mV to get ~ a 3200MHz GPU, while my card does even more that at -50mV. However, I have the highest GB model, so it has a higher power limit by default.

Dang i just lost a long post.
Debauer is the guide i went by even tho he was able to have a better offest than mine.
Anyone know how to get this AMD Adrenaline software to start with windows and apply my OC at startup?
My card also is the 16GB XT series.
Its so odd how OC'ing goes these days, Undervolt and go up in MHZ seems counter intuitive.

An Adrenaline OC should be applied at startup unless the driver decides there was something unstable about it. Then it resets to the default profile. I find it also resets sometimes even when it seemed to be fine. :screwy: Not sure what is up with that, just AMD being AMD.
