I built this corner setup out of a countertop I robbed elsewhere in the house that I wasn't going to use. I'm kinda proud of it. Of course I had to replace most of my peripherals so everything was color matched as best I could.

Wow, that looks nice! If you wanted to hide the wires, you could get a chunk of 2" pvc pipe and run it from the floor, through the hole in the desk and up to the back of the LCD. You could paint it to match you desk, or the wall so it blends in more.

That's one sweet looking setup there. However, I agree johnny too.

BTW, isn't that sub kinda close to your hard drive? I didn't think those were magnetically shielded.

Thanks for compliments. Yes I do want to hide the wires back there more. I had to install an outlet as it was because the power was coming from around the corner. Heh, yeah legroom is nil, mouse room would be too, but I recline in a chair sideways with the keyboard on lap, which happens to be the same stance I've always used with big desks. LOL, this is the corner the wife gave me for the computer, I had to make lemonade!

Pretty cool, very interesting. I was thinking of plceing a PC in the corner on a small desk for family members to check email and stuff. But I like the idea of making a small desk w/ countertop into the wall. Very cool!

Magnetic sheilding isn't really the issue most people think it is...I have giant 3 foot tall home theater speakers sitting next to my case and they are definately not sheilded...no problems ever. Other people have used magnets to mount things in their case without problems...the only time when magnets are a problem for a hard drive is if they touch the actual drive or are extremely powerful and I mean extremely, however it is always good to be cautious, so I would still recommend not putting magnets near your own hard drives.

btw wow what an awesome desk.....stick the pc in the wall and you will have the ultimate corner workstation.

I was actually considering stripping the case and putting it in the wall between the studs in a custom enclosure and only having a plexiglass plate and a patch panel for my peripherals. The only real problem I saw is that a cd-rom is one thing that has to be mounted for accessibility and they are too deep for the wall. Havent overcome that one yet. Any thoughts on that? The wife hasnt quite warmed up to that idea yet though.

you could make it like a cabinet built into the wall....the plexiglass plate could just swing out on hinges and then you could use the cd rom drive....or just buy an external one and set it on the desk.

edit: just thought of somethin else....can't you put the cd drive so that the fron't of it comes out around the corner??? so that it will fit in the wall length wise and then the front pops out around the corner of the wall.

You could hang the CDrom in a small box under the desk, then just use a rounded IDE cable that runs into the wall where the computer is located? Make sense?
