This is a better shot..notice the foam..I used this to muffle the sound. It did not raise the temp of my mobo by that much and as the cpu is getting air directly from outside the case the added heat inside does not affect it.

DAMN!!!! that is one big *** duct! I just made an exhaust duct but it needs a little more modding before i can get it to work (for alpha 8045).... What i am going to do is put some thin foam IN THE DUCT so when my sunon 50cfm exhausts air from the heatsink, the noise will be instantly cancelled out, therefore leving you with a much less noisy pc... most intake ducts i have seen come from a fan on the side of the case, not the front... that is a very interesting design you got there.. good work

Big ***?!...ha ha....I have not seen any other duct picts so I dont know what to compare it too. It is kinda Ghetto but it seemed the simplest and most cost efective way to do this. The duct was dirt cheat. Origionally I had 2 hard drive coolers in the front bay, but the CFM was kinda dinky..although it looked nice. So I replaced them w/ the 80mm and got a better airflow across the CPU. It does not look as pretty but it does the Job. I chose that duct since it was the cheapest and had the best fit. I know some would argue that the ridges on it may inhibit proper airflow..but since I am getting a 5-8c drop in temp I cant complain. All in all it is a very effective set up in my opinion.
Now what u dont see is the Tt fan gaurd on the front intake fan..I took it off the Volcano 7 since it could not be seen and slapped it on the front 80mm after I took the pics..it makes it look a little nicer.
below is the pic of the fan guard if you have not seen it before:

Ya Emericana, tell us more about the foam. And I am not sure what u mean by the foam inside the pipe cuts down on noise. Would that not impede airflow and second..how do u get it inside.
If this helps to cut down on noise than I would like to try it..could you give a quick lesson?:D

actually i bought some magic fleece from plycon.com because my system noise was unbearable cause i couldnt sleep in the same room w/ it and it cut down the nosie around 80%... the stuff is $70 but worth every penny. i am sure you could find some cheaper stuff but nothing cancells sound that well and is as thin as it is... the stuff is very thin and very good and was designed specifically for computers

Accually Puer Aeternus, the ridges in the duct probably help because they help with making turbulance. Turbulant air accually takes away more heat than calm air. Nice work! :)

Congrats on your first duct. (It's only gettho on the inside)

I used the EXACT same kind of dryer hose duct that you did to duct to my cpu fan but did it from the side intake fan that came with my case. I cut it to the length that I wanted so that it wouldn't have too many ridges. I just have to slip it on and off the side fan when I want in my case, which is easy 'cause the hose is a perfect fit for an 80mm fan. I don't even run the side fan anymore...If I need more cpu cooling, I can just turn up the rheostat on the cpu fan. I'll probably cut the fan off of its case so that there is total free flow from the outside to the cpu.
