I have

amd xp2000+
msi ms-6378 with vga-lan-audio

now my problem is when I click on the power button nothing happens..I only hear it counts the ram and thats it...no beeps at all

none of my monitors get any signals from the mobo(integrated vga)

what I know so far thats not causing the problem
memory works fine in another system
monitor works fine on another system
cooling is properly attached
memory stick is properly attached
psu works fine in another system

anyone got any other ideas of what could be wrong?

BTW its a new system built from scratch

well, according to msi you cant disable the integrated videocard at all

there is neither agp slots on it
I only have an old isa svga videocard to test it with

Well, I suggest that you go out and get the cheapest AGP vid card you can find and then try that and see what happens.

There was no AGP slot so I would sugest PCI Vcard.
But it realy sounds like you video part of your MOBO isn't working as well as it should be.
Or you somehow disabled it without knowing but that would usualy result in beeping noises again so...

Could try the manufacturers website and ask around there...

I cant use another videocard, cause I cant disable the integrated one, Ive tried my isa video card and nothing happened

anyway, if the integrated videocard didnt work I should still be able to hear the beep when it starts loading the OS, which do not happen

Depends on how scr.. eh.. broken it would be. The system does not extualy check if you have picture. So if it is broken the "card" could not be noticing that and tells your Mobo that everything is just fine.
The onlyone actualy noticing it would be.. well you.

*edit*
Just reread your reply and noticed my mistake...
you can't hear the sound of OS loading either...
wierd.

Just looked through the online manual...
I guess that's why I don't like integrated stuff, if it breaks and you can't go replaceing it you can drop the whole mobo in the waste bin :(

Anyways....
Tried the clear BIOS already? (you probably have, but just asking)
The only thing left is the frontside bus jumper.. could try that one in a different setting.
Check if your memory is suported by the mobo (but i would recon the mobo would allarm you if it wasn't)

Does it start accessing the HDD after it's rattling from the memtest?

Ive cleared the bios without result
I could try the fsb jumper thing
My mobo shouldnt have problem with my memory as its original standard pc133 memory

Im not sure if it access my HD but I dont belive it does since I dont hear any sound from it

I forgot to mention, but I have a t-bred cpu, not palomino
however those I bought it from said it should work fine

hah I it worked

tihs is what I did

I reattached the cpu to the mobo and I change the jumper to 133mhz(it was 100mhz by default)

woha it worked fine :D

thanx :)
