I have attemped my first overclock.
Even the slightest tweak becomes unstable in 3DMark & boots me to desktop.

My System:
Asus P4PB-400
P4-2.40 Northwood
1024 333MHz DDR
Radeon 9800XT-256Mb
CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu LED
Northbridge Fan: CoolerMaster Blue Ice
GPU Fan: Zalman VF700-Cu LED
Case: Tsunami Dream
1-120mm Front Fan
1-120mm Rear Fan
1-90mm Side Fan
Ambiant Temp: 70 F
Idle Temp: 36 C/96.8 F
Load Temp: 41 C/104.0 F

I first tried a software overclock from my chip maker VIA, called Jetstream.
The stock setting was:

FSB-133.31
Vcore-1.52v
36 C/96.8 F

Worked fine in 3DMark.

I hit the "Turbo" button and got:
FSB-140.00
Vcore-1.775v
Load Temp: 41 C/104.0 F

Booted me to desktop 1 minute into 3DMark.

With the software overclock, it's stable at:
FSB-135.00
Vcore-1.500v
Idle Temp: 36 C/96.8 F
Load Temp: 41 C/104.0 F

3DMark runs fine.

So I decided to do my overclocking in the Bios.
Anything I changed in Bios, resulted in 1 0f 2 outcomes:

1. Would not boot
2. Booted me to desktop 1 minute into 3DMark.

Ofcoarse, even after reading a ton of overclocking information, thanks to you guys, I STILL don't get how to do it.
My other computer has multipliers I can adjust, but this one does not.
Here is my Bios for overclocking:

How would YOU clock this?
What's the step by step?

also increase the timings of the ram, it sounds like i was having the same problems with my oc, and when i lowerd the timeings to 3-4-4-8 i got an extra 100 mhz with my old ram.

when you clock it to 140, can you check and see what your PCI Bus is running at?

You mean write in 140 in the highlighted red part above?
Is the PCI Bus in the bios screen shown above?

Are you talking about the timings I have highlighted in red?
If it's in the order given, I don't have a choice of 4...........

No, it is not. You may need to run software in windows to see the PCI Bus speed. Try Everest Home.

yep, that CPU Clock is also known as your FSB. For reference in case we ask to increase the FSB.

Ah ha!
That's one of the (many) places I was getting confused! (not to hard a task)

Now I'm starting to get it.
Yea, right. :D
