The cooling on this thing...well...sucked! When I first took of the CPU, there so NO thermal paste between the tiny little HSF and the GPU. I modded an old P// HSF to fit on this card, and chopped up an old P/ for the RAM sinks...which match the pretty gold of the card too!

Awesome job!

I know my Gigabyte GF2mx came with only passive cooling...and yup, not much in the way of thermal paste...took care of that one night, but didn't do the ramsinks...maybe some other time.

Those tabs are addictive and powerful! Plastic death as I call them :D I broke out the compressed air, and one good shot took out all the dust! The benchies pretty much such, the card is a no name and only overclocks to 180/180 from 175/165 :( Oh well...next up is my GeForce 3 Ti200 when it comes back from RMA. Gotta put a cryorb on it and some better Ram sinks

So what you did was just take off the fan on the GPU and put some Artic Silver in? Maybe I should do this. Not hard?

first you either have to get the card very very cold (freezer) or very hot (gaming;) ) then pry the heatsink off...i prefer using my hands and wiggling it off...after that is done you use Artic Alumina Epoxy as it is non-conductive and wont kill your graphics card to glue on the new heatsink....

Well, mine was held in with those spring clamp type things, so all I needed was plyers. There is no atric silver in there...I made myself a new heatsink from an old Pentium HSF, and it is stuck on there with artic alumnum epoxy. I also made the RAM sinks. Man are hack saws great!!!

I don't seem to be having OCing problems with my video card. Take a look at my sig. That's my card and that's my temp. When do you usually start worrying about this?

I dont think I have a way of getting the temps from my vid card. I didn't get much of an improvement, like 5 Mhz GPU and 15 Mhz RAM...becuase it is a cheap card and doesn't OC well. I can't wait till my GeForce 3 Ti200 comes back from the RMA...I am going to put a crystal orb on it and new RAM sinks

i just put a crystal orb on my gf3 and in the process i slipped one of the flat sensors that came with my DD5 under it. That is the only way i monitor my temps.

No, its blowing on the HSF...it is just a really old fan!
LOL ..ok just making sure... The lable usually faces in the direction of the air flow..now that I look at the blades the curve is facing the right way.. P.S. Nice job :)
