a Barton mobile to a 2.6C clocked to 3.26, the worst downgrade ive ever seen in my life...

Intel IS a placebo effect, you assume because u drop 60-100 dollors more that the extra money gone from your pocket makes it FEEL faster, LMAO, lets see about my barton mobile, loads windows fully in under 10 seconds from cold boot. Ive used the highest end p4s avail because i try to like pentium 4 but the results speak for themselves!

And to the bs about "i have a p4 so i have more money" is BS us amd users tend to spread our cash over multiple systems. If you REALLY had more money than me you would have a socket 949 system now wouldnt you, with your elitest dilusions

howbout' next time you take it a little easier hmz ;)

He already made the choise..no need to break it down to the ground now, which is, IMO, not neccesary, not useful and not applicable. Hes got a decent system that performs well for what he needs it for. No place for AMD/Intel wars here.

Sorry to continue the war, but my 3.0 clocked @ only 3.6 gets 100 points less than his amd @ 2.7, 2.7 is a high overclock for an amd, 3.6 is not for intel, see where im coming from? :)

Glad your happy with your rig sounds like you got the best of the deal :)

except for the fact that he already said he DIDN'T PAY MORE. stop going into threads just to defind AMD and not even read what was posted. you can defend your opinions in a much more civilized manner. And um since when does P4=owner being richer... you go get two equally clocked amd and intel cpus. a 2600+ vs 2.6Cw/HT at stock and you come back and tell me which one is smoother.

What a crock. You are basing this only on the Sandra CPU benchmark? I have two P-4 systems that beat your score. I also see that your FPU (floating point score) is really low compared to P-4.

Try running Sandra memory bandwidth and see how bad that 2.6C beats your Barton mobile. Try running PCmark2002 which is much better indication of overall system performance than Sandra.

I have to admit that a Barton mobile is an excellent overclocker and a great bang for the buck, but dude, I have to burst your bubble, all of my P-4's will outperform your system by quite a large margin.

I am quite suprised a 2500M at 2.5ghz is only clocking in even with a 3ghz intel.

Sandra tells me mine should clock even with a 3.5, same with 3d mark.

I dont think it was a bad desicion overall, mostly a sideways step IMO.

These scores are with the same video card a Gainward ti4200 clocked to 295 620
3DMark 2001SE
14725 2.0G P4 at 3.1G Crucial PC2700 Stock Copper heatsink
14898 2500M 12.5X216 2700 with XMS 3200C WC
15684 2.8C P4 at 3360 with OCZ PC 3700 Performance Series SLK 900U

come on people, sandra is flawed since its only optimized for P4 and sse/2/3,
if sandra supports 3D'now/pro,athlon would've score alot higher in FPU ;)
btw, major videocard companies like ati and nvidia supports 3D'now/pro,
that's why athlon beats P4 in games/3D ;)

athlons DONT beat P4's in games though. Ever see stock vs. stock benches?? a 3.4C..or even a 3.2C will smash any athlon XP out there. Trust me, I dont hate AMD, infact, im getting a socket 939 later this year, but im just saying from personal experience, the intel p4 northwoods are a hell of a lot faster the xp's. And AMD-Me, that is the most BS score i've ever seen. People with A64's barely break 11,000...

The arrogance of AMD users really does frustrate me. NO im not a fanboi, i get the best performer. Do i spend more than if i brought an AMD? Depends which AMD -- market wise comparable systems are cheaper, but performance wise i like HT alot. I also pay for fully supportive chipsets, stable overclocking (AGP/PCI lock on the 754 sockets?)

I would like to see a more stable chipset base for AMDs like intel, in that case i will go AMD (cheaper, performs better AND will have a decent overclocking base)

Grow up and open your minds, we just choose a different company, we arent oppressing you. If you werent so biggoted this would be a far better community -- this may sound hipocritical after this rant, but please just listen?

Think of it this way -- AMD see you "loyal" fans defending thier product; no need to change. Being critical of it will make them change. You might only be a few of thier market % but what if everyone who thought they weren't "enough" did something maybe they would listen.

Just stop screaming, we've heard your balony that AMDs are "cheaper" "faster per clock". It wont stop us buying them, everyone here is capable of making thier own, informed choices.

'scuse the rant...

Hey, lets all calm down a bit :) I'm sure we can have a civilised discussion without every AMD vs Intel thread going down hill... at least I would hope so.

Hey more power to you CircutBreaker8, enjoy the P4 until the 939 enter's your life. I dont think CPU choice is a big deal anyway when your compairing an XP to a P4....I mean seriously, it isnt like either of them hold a candle to the A64 anyway. Its like arguing over which Hundai is better while a Porsche drives by.....

lol it is not a bs score at all... a 2.7ghz barton with dual channel ddr IS just that fast, some people disregard the importance of dual channel ddr in Nforce2 but it does make a significant difference!

That was the biggest compliment you could have ever given me. Its like being called a Aimboter in SOFII servers ;)

He used his method of transaction (in this case, an even trade) to get himself a new system that, to him, seems faster. Why must people berate him for making a choice that was his, and only his, to make?? When I joined this community, it was so that we could all help each other out. When I see things like this, it almost makes me feel ashamed.

Synthetic benchmarks are just that: synthetic. Wahoo, your XPD zoober-whopper+ 9000 can score 400 TIPS! But, if my system can load programs more quickly, execute instructions more efficiently, and provide a much smoother computing experience, does that make my system less *cool* or valuable?

I currently have an AMD system. I'm still running PC2100. My AXP1700+ o/c'd to 2ghz can do around 8300MIPS as per Sandra 2004. But, my buddy with a 2.4c and PC3200 can still boot faster than me. He can still load programs quicker than me. Yes, he paid more for it, but he had the money at the time and decided to spend it. Is his computer *cooler* than mine? Or is my computer cooler than his because it can calculate more instructions per time period?

It's only a screwdriver...

My barton setup is about as fast as fast can be, and i owna A64 laptop. And ive used a p4 before im not blindly bias, and the reason for that intels faster bootup is the ram bandwisth difference.
And this barton setup can boot to windows in 1 animationg thingy (you know the bar thing in windows xp that goes across the screen) one pass of that and 5 sec later im ion windows and ready to go, i really dont know how it can get much faster than that,
