Sure I can be called fanboy if you want. I enjoy it and it works very well, easy to install. Theres some things that don't work and bugs me but I'll live with it.

I'm just messing with you, I hoped the smileys made that clear. :santa2:

And as rainless said you're very level-headed about things and don't act as if brand preference is a religion. I don't care if people have brand or product preferences, or say 'Hey I use ___ and like it' as long as they aren't trying to 'convert' others and feel they must push their preference. There are some here like that and I push them a little bit because their fanboy-ism is silly and extreme, yours is just a preference but you're still able to say 'that other product is good too.'

Only 512mb Vram?? How do they expect to compete with the GTX? or even the GTS 640??

The amount of VRAM avaliable has very little to do with the cards performace really. i doubt any games these days use much more than 500mb. Besideds the XTX is going to have 1GB :santa:

Hey bro, I'd like you, deathman and anybody else who is getting an R600 soon to collaborate for an FP article. I'd like to see some OCF numbers. What do you think? :)

Send me a pm and we can coordinate this.

Do you mind if I test it and mess around with it first tomorrow? I'd like to have a little bit of fun before doing anything serious with write ups or testing overclocks. ;)

Sure thing mate! In the past ppl here were forced to rely on other places for reviews (many were inaccurate). So I thought one of our own boys/girls can disch up the goods. I trust you folks more than any XYZ forum. :)

I've started to post my bench results with my x1950xtx. I will be further completing them throughout the night. Expect 2900XT results in less than 20 hours. :)

edit: anyone have an official way of benchmarking GRAW? The only methods I saw were taking screenshots or just using fraps. Same thing for BF2, Guild wars...

Most pro's use some kind of script that will make the character move the same path and do the same things each time it's loaded, like a track. Then they benchmark it of course.

No idea on the details though :/

This is an insteresting result:

oblivion-1600-bar.jpg

Shows how it stacks up on a very intensive game in terms of shaders and HDR, perhaps this card will be a beast in DX10 performance and that's what it's geared for. I got this from the thread posted by mbigna, it's worth noting that it falls behind on other benchmarks on games that aren't as intensive, it's weird to say the least.

Super I'll PM ya shortly as well I'll be glad to help with some sort of official writeup.

I think they both are going to be using Vista... while VJ will do some good ol' XP (and maybe vista as well).

Do you think you guys can give me your opinions on the stock noise and heat levels? The only thing really holding me back from picking up the R600 is the noise and heat; I'll be using the card in my new PC, which will also be an HTPC. Your general thoughts on the card before thursday night would be great, I plan on order parts that night.

Thanks guys, I look forward to seeing an OCF review!

Hm that's...different. A few other sites show it closer to the 8800GTS 640 than the GTX. I wonder what the difference is?

Just a note about the oblivion results posted on PC Perspective. They ran all their benchmarks in Vista-64bit, they had the newest driver that gave improved frames for oblivion, it doesn't look like the game settings were on max. Here's the LINK for the detailed oblivion results.

I see a Fedex truck stopping outside!!!!!!!!!!!

--- All of my scores are on 32bit Vista. As for noise levels, I will compare from what I remember about my stock x1900 cooler and my current x1950xtx stock cooler.

Sounds great man, I'm excited for you... and that's not a good, seeing as I'm in the office right now.
