I have a xp2500 processor. My system does reconize the processor instead it reads: unknown processor type 1.9 ghz (yes I tweaked it a little). Even the benchmark software I have reads the same. Is this a problem even though my system is running fine? Can it be corrected? LMK

It is possible that a bios update will add the Barton to the list of 'known' processors. Running with it in 'unkown' status should have no adverse effects other than you might have to manually set the correct fsb (which it appears you have already exceeded slightly).

Try to change the multiplier and see if the speed changes or not, if it DOES, then the chip is unlocked, if it doesn't or you get a black screen then its most likely locked.
