Ok, I thought my card was bad at first, because I could only get scores of around 6200 with 3dmark2k1(1024x768_32, using 23.11). So I RMA'd the card and got a completely new one. I get the card back, and I'm getting the exact same scores.

I downloaded the new 28.32s tonight, and install them. They bring the score up to right around 6500.

I can't figure out what is wrong with it.

My bios settings, and some other settings are listed here on this webpage , sorry if some of them aren't exactly clear, I did this all in a rush with mspaint while I'm on the phone.

any ideas or suggestions please.

Disable pci delayed transaction, make sure vsync is disabled, defrag your HD, double check any other bios settings... look for any performance gains possible. If you have a via chipset.. install the latest 4in1's. If that doesn't get you up around 7000-7500 LMK and we'll see what else we can do.

the via 4in1's will not install on my computer, and work. I've tried installing in every different agp mode offered. Tried it with a complete clean install of windows as well, every time I install them my computer either locks up in 3d applications, or it's messed up like it won't show the framerate and stuff like that in 3dmark.

I've turned anti-aliasing off, vertical sync off. I've ran 3dmark right after a clean install, so fragmenting isn't it. And I can't really think of any other bios settings that have to do with video at all:(

thanks for the reply, I should have included this information in my first post, but it's pretty late and I'm slipping out of it.

also, I ran 3dmark at 640x480 16bit, with anti-aliasing off, vert sync off and all the other stuff, and barely got over 7,000.

thanks again

Tim

AGP fast write can be a problem on some boards, though when it is I beleive nVidia updated the drivers to handle it to avoid instability. So, if it's doing that in the drivers it might be slowing down, so therefore disabling fast write in BIOS might actually cure it. Just an idea.

edit:

Or that SB live could be the problem, check it's not sharing IRQs with the AGP, I heard they often work best or at all in "one of the two end PCI slots" though I didn't discover whether that piece of wisdom meant the PSU end or the far end.

card prob

Rain's got the right advice for boosting that score. I'd suggest that if you RMA anything in the future, that you make a small mark on it. Something that won't really be noticed... That way, you can tell if they sent you a replacement or sent the same item back to you. I mean if you send a card back because of a low score, and their techs test it out and it works... odds are they're not gonna benchmark it if it seems to work ok in a test machine. They might have just looked at it, put it in a test machine, said, "there's nothing wrong here", and shipped it back to you.

one step ahead of you arkaine, I did make a mark ;)

it's a new card. I got all new software and cables with it too.

I've tried disabling fast-writes in bios, same score.

also tried 64mb, 128mb, and 256 mb aperture sizes, with no change in results.

vid is on IRQ 11, with a 56k modem that doesn't get used. I've taken the modem out completely, with same results.

sound card is on 10 by itself.

thanks for the suggestions, this is really bothering me that i can't figure this out.

well it's pretty much official that it's not my computer. I just got done trying it out in my friends comp.

amd 1900/ax7
abit kg7 raid
and some other junk

same results.

I have no clue how to go about flashing a vid cards bios, but I don't feel I should have to flash the cards bios to break 7k, leadtek is apparently making a sub par ti500 or I've gotten two bad ones in a row.
