my voodoo 4, help??

My system consists of a amd 700 mother board, 256mb ram, and a 27gig hard drive.

before christmas i had a voodoo 4500 insttalled, when i turned the machine on after installation desktop was basically distorted to hell, lines of code showing through, text was garbled, icons and file and folders all distorted through out windows, but after turning the machine on and off a few times the problem dispersed and dissapeared, hooray.

however, 2 weeks ago the problem resurfaced, seeming now to kick up most when im on the internet, making it very hard for me to post this topic.

this problem, as strange as it may seem, does NOT effect games in any way.

Can anyone here please help me with this problem, or at least point me in the right direction...
