if the cpu does not have a multiplyer, will it allow the mobo to set one?

All current processors have a multiplier. Even if it's a special unlocked engineering CPU, you still have to set a multiplier for it to work.

Since all CPU's have a multiplier if your MB only has a few and your CPU goes over that then it will still run with the CPU's multiplier even if that multiplier does not show in BIOS.

IF the multiplier is not locked then you can change it provided your motherboard supports this.

Don't go breaking any legs off your CPU......

All chips have a multiplier. The only chips that didn't have a multiplier were 66Mhz and slower. They just ran at the bus speed.

Yes, the CPU tells the motherboard what mult to use. But if you cut those legs off you'll never boot that CPU. You'll kill it. It's not that simple.
