I think it's too tight. I passed on the NB1 and just used a passive blue Zalman NB47J on the chipset. It tucks right under the SP-97 and just about touches, but it fits.

Thanks hawk, I know I am going to go active and I have a few choices. I am wondering if anybody has tried and failed...

afaik it doesnt work. but i read that the new copper nb cooler from thermalright fits without the fan!?
im currently working on my own one, made of an old socketA hs. i will post picks when its done.

edit: spelling

For those who want to know:

"Dear James,

NB-1 will have to work in passive mode(san fan) to clear the fin arches of SP-97. Cooling capability will not be handicap since there are plenty of air coming from SP-97 fan :) Thank you for interesting in Thermalright products.

Sincerely,

Jim Wei
