Heya all,
Would like some help on my issue. I currently have a rig where the MOBO died on me so I figured why not upgrade for a little bit more than getting a replacement MOBO for my system. So here is what I have now...

DFI LANPARTY nF4 SLI-DR socket 939 (DEAD)
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 2.2GHz OC'd to 2.74 (IIR)
2 OCZ Platinum 1GB DDR 400 (PC 3200)

I am looking to move back to the Intel line of things and to be honest, I want to stear clear of DFI as well.

So here is my question...I am a MMORPG player...Play WoW now, and looking forward to WArhammer ;) I want to stay at the very least, as fast as I am now, but to be honest, I am so far remove from Intel and current architecture trends that I am almost clueless as to what to get that will be pretty decent. So for as cheap as I can get, I want to make sure I can play wow at the same level (At max settings) and I will be set up with only a minor upgrade for WAR.

I came across this thread http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=483065

I was thinking the entry level system to replace what I have, but I am not sure how it compares to what I have/had. Or would the middle of the road put me there...or hell...can ssomeone recommend something better?? ;)

Thanks a ton!

(System is down so looking to buy soon ;) (I am getting the shakes with no games)

I am great at coming up with systems but I need a budget to work with. My favorite system runs around $900 for a great system.

budget is up for negiotiation...although 300 is about where I want to be...less is better though ;) I dont need to be 100% future proff ;) I have everything else, I just need the MOBO, proc and ram...my FX card PSU. case etc is all up to snuff ;)

Lets see:
E2200 $85 from the egg with free ship
Asus P5K-E $115 from zipzoomfly w/ free ship
G.Skill 2X2GB 800Mhz memory $85 from the egg w/ free ship

Fits right in your budget at $285 shipped assuming you don't have to pay tax.

If you can squeeze out a few more bucks you could fit a freezer 7 in there.

gmm..never really heard of the Ram Manufacturer...(Not that that means a whole lot hehe) I can save some money too by using my current heatsink (its the Xp-90C so I am good there. Wondering if the speed will be about the same or if I am looking at an upgrade here going this route...

Thanks by the way...I apprecaite your help ;)

I ended up ordering this setup minus 2GBs of RAM....going to use my Xp-90C for my proc so I should be good there ;) Thanks a ton guys for the help. Actualy put me on up on my knowledge since I had to take a look at the mobo...now I just need to stay up to date ;)

Thanks again ;) (Looks like I am going to have some OC goodness inc ;)

What ram did you end up with? Just for FYI G.Skill is a very well respected company. Good luck with the build. You are going to see a big difference coming from your old system.

That will be a nice little setup. As ou_phidelt said you will notice a big difference. I am also wondering what ram you ended up with and also as he said G.Skill is a well respected company. They are known for pretty good overclocks as well. Also just out of curiosity what GPU are you throwing in there?

I ended up ordering

CPU-Intel E2200 2.2 Ghz
MOBO-Asus P5K-E
RAM- G.Skill 2x1gb PC6400

I figure in a few months I can grab another 2 gigs of RAM and add it in. I am SOOO pumped to get this all in. I got the proc and RAM in...(I know this may sound odd...but I think G Skill has the nicest packaging of RAM that I have bought...)

Thanks again everyone for the input...It let me get back up and running in a short amount of time with little effort. Now I plan to never get this behind on Technology again ;)
