how much of a performance increase is the 640mb? and whats wrong with the power supply?

If you get the DS3 you might want to leave some room in your budget for a NB cooler because the stock cooler is really lame. Posters here say it gets hot enough that it actually hurts to touch it. That can't be good for the longevity of a motherboard.

Firstly, I would change from the E6600 to the E6420 and spend the saved money on a good Heatsink.

Secondly, I agree that the PSU should be changed. Try for either the CORSAIR 520-HX or CORSAIR 620-HX PSU models.

Also, if you truly want a budget rig then the 8800GTS is not for you. It is more of a future proof card then one that is cheap but still good enough for modern games. If you do have the money to spend on it though I definitely would go for it. As for the ram difference, IMO you should be OK with the 320 model if your monitor is Sub 20"s.

yeah, i have a 19" and not planning on going any bigger.... and when did corsair make PSU's? interesting... didn't know 500w wouldnt be enough...

It's not really a wattage problem as it is Antec. They haven't faired well lately.

Dont play around with a cheap psu, rather speed a little extra for some quailty.

Wait a week or so and the 8800GTS should be having a price drop.

Also look for some thing used, alot of people have stuff that is in mint condition or still in shrinkwrap for sale cheaper than retail.

Why change to the p5b mobo?
