I have an abit bx6 rev 2 motherboard with a celeron 366 processor. According to abit's website the board supports up to 700mhz p3 with the latest bios. I noticed that I could choose an 8.5 multiplier at 100mhz in the bios settings which means 850 mhz. Is it possible to run an 850mhz processor in this board or am i stuck with the 700 as the highest? Thanks.

If you plan to overclock, you can likely save some money by buying the 700 as its top speed will be fairly close to the top speed of the 800.

I don't know the answer to your question. Hopefully someone else here does.

The BX chipset automatically reads the multiplier from the CPU so the settings are irrelevant. So there shouldn't be any problem running an 850. The fact that there is an 8.5 multiplier setting means that the speed will be reported properly.

But, why not save cash, pick up a PIII 700, and O/C it to 933 MHz or so. That's what Abit boards are for.
