Hey everyone... I've got an SH6 with a P3 850 CPU. I like this board, but one thing bugs me, the onboard sound... 111 is as high as the bus can go without killing the sound. First of all, I can't imagine why abit would put something like that on a board made for overclocking. Can't even use 112 bus speed.. sad. I did boot it up at 118 bus which puts me over a ghz and got into win2k and did a timedemo in q3 with no problems (aside from no sound of coz). I was using the stock hsf, so I think I have a pretty good chip. The question is do I spend $50 for a sblive and be happy with 1ghz, or spend the $50 on a peltier and try to run at 133 bus speed, which with the proper settings (3:4:1 I think??) would keep the on board sound happy.

Right now I can't post at 1.13ghz (aside from seeing a corrupt rom bios message now and then) so I'm a little wary if the chip can even do it. Is there an easy way to test this, freeze spray perhaps? Or put the chip in the freezer for awhile and see if it boots up at 1.13 cold? Let me know what the best course of action is... Thanks.

Me too, I say get a SB live value card, far superior than the onboard sound. You'll spend way more for the peltier and there is no guarantees that it will be stable at 133 FSB either. I have that same onboard AC97 sound on my old SE6 and my new SA6R Abit boards too, it's not bad, but there's much better. But, I love good audio, so I have a SB X-Gamer 5.1 with surround sound speakers and subwoofer. Those 3D games come alive with a nice sound system. Make sure you disable all three of the sound devices in the BIOS prior to installing a new sound card. In fact, disable it now to test and see if that's what's holding you back from overclocking.
