I'm about to build my system with the following stuff.

  • Case: LianLi_PCV-1000
    Power supply: FSP Group FSP350-60PN
    Motherboard: A8N-SLI Deluxe
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ socket 939
    Memory: 2GByte Kingston HyperX (KHX4000K2/1G)
    Graphic: Powercolor ATI Radeon X850XT 256 MB GDDR3 PCI-E
Hard drive: 74 GB Western Digital Raptor, 10000 rpm, 8 MB cache, S-ATA

I have it laying around in my closet since the graphic card is arriving on tuesday (so they say).

My question is: Do you guys think I need to cool the memory chips in some way when using watercooling.
I mean, they are cooled somewhat by air in a default setup I think.

My cooling kit I have is a brand new Asetek's kit KT12A-L30 DUAL

I have made that one external since I don't want it to jam up my case.
My project

If you dont have memory ramsinks on them now...then you should get some if you plan on OCIng the card...ramsinks will always help the memory...

tweakmonster BGA ramsinks are great...helps my Pro run at 400+ on my Pro without a V mod...

I don't have the card yet but as soon as I get it I wan't to mount everyting and hook up the watercooling to it. With watercooling the air inside the case will pretty much be at stand still since the water cooling is external.
So I guess I have to mount some heatsinks to the card. How big do I need??
I have used up a cooler for an old card and got heatsinks left over.

I know its a crappy image but its the only one.
Sinks are about 1.5x1.5cm and about 8mm high
