Hi everyone, this is my first time on the board and I am in drastic need of help. I have decided to buy a new computer and Im going all out. I do mostly gaming and overclocking. Can anyone help me decide ont he best mother board for this ? I am looking for a 761 chipset. Motherboards I have seen that look good so far are epox 8k7a GA7DXR , A7M266 . I need a board that support pc2400 and has tons of options. Thanks all ,

ps. One more quick question I bought a p4 340 watt power supply can I convert this to a
T-bird powersupply?

PS answer it will work fine with a t-bird it just has an extra 12v connector that you won't be using!

I was also wondering the same thing myself (interested in AMD761 chipset, etc). However, my choices were between the A7M266 and the MSI K7Master-S. I know a lot of people seemed to recommend ASUS. I liked it for the Stepless Frequency Selection, and I've read a lot of reviews and comparisons where it was an excellent performing board. In fact, the case was closed until I was looking at hard drives. This is where the Master comes in. I wanted SCSI support (preferably on-board) so that I can use a Seagate CheetahX 15. I've heard people have had problems with the on-board sound, though. (Most notably with DISABLING it, and I'm planning to to install a decent sound card). I've also noticed that neither one is noted on AMD's website as supporting the 1.4ghz (266 mhz fsb) yet. Anyone care to compare these two for me? (Overclockability, stability, performance) Any help is appreciated. A quick run down on the hardware I'd like to install is : 1.4ghz Athlon, 512MB PC2100 RAM, SBLive! XGamer, VisionTek GeForce3 DDR, and the Seagate CheetahX 15 if possible (If the MSI board is a no, then I'll most likely be going with a 7200 rpm drive from either Maxtor or Western Digital). If anyone has a different recommendation than either of these that is good, I'm open to that suggestion too, I'll just do some more reading up on that too. Thanks.
