hello

i have a retail 9700pro bba and i have the following problem

if you look at this card it has a red rectagular plate on the lower left of the card. well this plate gets EXTREMELY HOT and im worried about long term stability as this card was not cheap for me to get. lately during long term gaming i have gotten a lock-up, now to me this is worrisome as i have not had a lock up ever on this card (was playing a long time though)and the game i was playing was divine divinity so the game is not exactly cutting edge(but extremely fun) so what i was wondering is if it would void my warranty to glue a small heatsink to this metal plate to cut down the temps. im not putting anything on the ram or gpu, just this metal plate. has anyone else noticed how hot this plate gets on your cards??? on mine it gets VERY HOT during gaming.

any feedback will be happily appreciated as i don't want to have to return this sweet card.....

Ummm... they would probably not want to honor your warranty if you put a heatsink on it...

Can you give us some more info on your system? I have a 120mm case fan blowing right over my 9700 pro, but I have had lockups, but I can attribute it to my FSB being to high and my AGP bus being way to out of spec. Are you overclocking your system? The 9700 pro's are infamous for not liking AGP bus speed to high.

187 FSB is where I start seeing probs. Guess I need AGP/PCI lock on my next mobo.
